Shanda Hill Completes Deca Ultra Tri 2025 after 279 hours!

Canadian ultra-athlete Shanda Hill has achieved an extraordinary feat, becoming the first and only woman to complete the inaugural South Africa Deca Ultra Triathlon in Gariep Dam. Representing Vernon, B.C., Hill conquered the grueling endurance challenge on Thursday night, March 20, after battling intense heat, physical injuries, and extreme exhaustion.

Hill covered an astonishing total distance of 38 km swimming, 1,800 km cycling, and 422 km running, finishing in 279 hours and 30 minutes. Initially leading the overall competition after the swim segment, she maintained a strong position throughout the race, ultimately securing second place overall and first in the women's category.

Hill crossed the finish line proudly wrapped in her traditional Canadian flag and wearing Canada-themed racing gear.
Her remarkable achievement received overwhelming online support, with heartfelt messages and donations totaling over $10,000, helping her pursue a world record in completing every International Ultra Triathlon Association event scheduled for 2025.

Hill will soon return to Vernon to recuperate from an injured abductor muscle before preparing for her next race, the Brazil Ultra Triathlon in Rio de Janeiro, beginning May 1.

She continues to seek sponsorships for her upcoming events, with seven additional races planned for the season.
